Digital Art

Escape is a personal digital painting and an experiment in motion. The piece shows a figure pushing forward through heavy rain, with everything (lighting, brushwork, atmosphere) doing the work of selling that movement. Rain is a notoriously hard subject. Get it wrong and the whole image looks like static. The challenge was to make it read as wet, fast, and physical.

Target Audience

This isn't client work. It's portfolio work, made for other illustrators, art directors and viewers who care about expressive painting. It's also a bit of a flex piece, proof I can apply design and storytelling chops outside of a brief.

Touchpoints

The painting lives in this portfolio and on creative platforms where illustrators share work. It's an exercise in the kind of personal practice that keeps client work from going stale.

Success Metrics

The bar I set for myself was depicting believable movement and atmosphere in a single frame. The finished piece does that, and along the way it pushed my Photoshop skills with rain, rim lighting and figure dynamics. Worth it.
